It’s such a shame but there is most definitely a shortage of good, unique and affordable cards in Hong Kong. Doesn’t matter what the occasion – birthday, anniversary, thank you, get well soon…I can never seem to find any good ones that cost less than HK$50, and even if I do find a good one, I can almost guarantee that someone else has bought the same card! Luckily I have found a great DIY remedy to this problem; by simply using a pre-bought card, scrapbook paper (you can usually buy a booklet of different patterned paper) and a needle and thread.
What you need:
- Greeting Card
- Scrapbook Paper
- Needle & Embroidery Thread
- Spray Glue
- Lay down some newspaper and spray the top of the greeting card with the glue. Stick it flat onto the underside of a sheet of scrapbook paper.
- Cut the card out of the paper and fold back into its original shape.
- Using the needle and thread, stitch all along the edge of the card.
How easy it that? Obviously this is just a simple template, you can further personalize greeting cards with photos, sequins, glitter, permanent markers, flat-based embellishments…the possibilities are endless! And you’ll never be caught giving a boring or overused greeting card ever again!
