Fig & Camembert Open-Face Sandwich

I really love cheese. No joke, I honestly think “everything’s better with cheddar”and “a bit of brie, fills you with glee”. That being said, whilst I definitely can’t get enough of cheese (honestly I could eat it like an apple, by the block…but then I’d be the size of a house…) I really love food combos that work even better than expected, like this homemade Fig and Camembert Sandwich. I genuinely can’t call this a “recipe” as it involves zero cooking, but let it serve as “foodspiration” and hopefully the simplicity will convince you to try it out sooner rather than later!

Fig and Camembert Sandwich

What you need:

  • English Muffin
  • Camembert
  • Fresh Fig
  • Extra virgin Olive Oil


  1. Slice the english muffin in half, turn upside down and lightly toast under the grill.
  2. Turn the muffin halves back up and top each half with a few slices of camembert. Pop back under the grill till the cheese starts to go a little gooey (you don’t want it runny).
  3. Top the cheese with fresh fig slices, drizzle with olive oil, serve and enjoy!

Obviously you can substitute the camembert for brie or goats cheese and you can dress it up a bit more with some parma ham. Figs are in season at the moment (in the Northern hemisphere) and funnily enough they’re really not my favourite fruit but like I said add cheese to anything and you’ll be convinced it’s the best thing you’ve ever tasted!
