Fringed Clutch

Fringed Clutch

You might remember a DIY I did a little while back for a “Ribbon Clutch“: it turned out even better than I could’ve imagined and suddenly my mind was brimming with all the DIY possibilities. The ribbon shops I frequent on Yu Chau St, Sham Shui Po are literally treasure troves, full of inspiration and possible projects so believe me when I say, it’s impossible to enter and exit with only one purchase in your bag. Anyway I digress, the task at hand is a twist on the initial ribbon clutch I made previously. Yes I do DIY a lot of clutches, but I love the accessible luxury element; I love that I can still carry my whole life in them (yes I make sure the iPad fits!) but look a bit smarter and not quite so much like the crazy bag lady that I am!

So incredibly easy I don’t even need to repeat the steps in this blogpost (if you want to see the tutorial you can check it out here). If however, you don’t have a sewing machine but still want to make something similar to this DIY, you can easily take an existing clutch (or other kind of bag) and simply glue strips of the fringed ribbon onto the surface of the bag using contact adhesive (ah that reliable old friend).

I love this clutch because it’s neutral, a bit different and (to me anyway) exudes an easy-going boho-chicness that is so perfect for Spring. Dressed up or down; from day to night; I honestly haven’t found an outfit that this bag can’t work with.

Happy DIYing!

xoxo V.
