Mulled Wine

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another boozy “DIY” recipe! Oh yes, I’ve been drinking this since December arrived and now am going to share the recipe for my absolute favourite yuletide beverage – mulled wine (ahh even saying it fills me with a cozy feeling). If you’ve somehow never tried this drink – you are seriously missing out – it’s sweet, it’s tangy, it’s warm, it’s comforting and it’s booze!! How could I not love this – hope you enjoy it too!

What you need:

  • 1 bottle of red wine (I used a Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • 2 slices of lemon
  • 2 slices of orange
  • 3-4 tsp sugar
  • 1 Star anise
  • 1 Cinammon stick
  • 4 cloves

How to:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a pot.
  2. Gently heat up (don’t let it boil!) and let it gently simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Serve hot.


Mmmmmm so simple it’s no wonder this is my go-to drink once we get into December. So, now it’s your turn; brew a couple of mugs to warm the cockles and start feeling festive!
